Breaking the Barrier

Breaking the Barrier

Free outdoor sport opportunities for children and young people with disabilities.

Daytrippers Foundation is a proud supporter of Breaking the Barrier Legacy Project 2019.

Breaking the Barrier is Lifeworks flagship adventure sport offer. It offers children and young people with disabilities an opportunity to trial sporting activities that would not be accessible to them otherwise. Surfing, cycling and paddleboard events will take place across Devon and Torbay. The series of events are free, aimed at children and their families, led by specialists and supported by amazing volunteers.

For the first time, Lifeworks is launching a Breaking the Barrier Legacy Project which will develop 30 young people with learning difficulties to become event managers and sport coaches who will deliver activities.

The following events are open to children and young people age 8 and over and their families:

  • Sunday 12th May: Surfing at Saunton
  • Saturday 1st June: Family cycling at Torbay Velopark
  • Sunday 9th June: Family Paddleboard at Broadsands, Torbay
  • Sunday 30th June: Surfing at Bigbury
